All I want for Christmas is… DorisWorks handcrafted dictionary jewellery!

Today’s gift idea is a simple, affordable and very original one: jewellery made from old Chinese/English dictionaries, encased in resin.

I came across Doris Tian’s beautiful creations last year while shopping in Haji Lane and I ended up buying ‘wisdom’ cufflinks for my husband then. Needless to say, he loved them!

 'Forever' brooch (S$22)

Custom-made 'Aim high' cufflinks (S$28)

What’s so cool about these pieces? Whether it is cufflinks, earrings, bracelets or rings - they carry with them beautiful meanings. Each item has a different word covered and you can pick the one which conveys what you want to say best. From words like 'Bliss', 'Cherish', 'Wisdom',  'Elegant', 'Beauty', 'Prayers' to more specific ones like 'Mother' and 'Daughter', 'Father', 'Friends' etc… these beauties are expressive yet not cheesy, thanks to their elegant vintage-inspired design.

'Cherish' ring (S$16)

'Enjoy Life' earrings (S$24)

Although Doris had almost every topic covered, if there is a special word you’d like to have custom-made, she will do it for you with no extra charge! How cool is that!

You can find DorisWorks jewellery at Friends boutique on 16 Haji Lane, Level 2 and online on www.dorisworks.etsy.com
