3 standout labels at Best of British (BOB): SS13 LFW preview

I make no secret of my love for London and the fact I consider it to be the most fashionable city in the world! Lucky me, I’ll be flying off to London in a couple of weeks for a visit and while I’m not looking forward to the cold weather (living in Dubai and Singapore I almost forgot how it feels like!) I’m so excited to be back there to get inspired by this amazing city!

But before I go,  I managed to get a sneak peek on what to expect for the coming SS13 season from some of the coolest London designers – at Best of British's seasonal preview from London Fashion Week (Read about  last season’s trunk show here).

What I love about Glamour Inc, the people behind BOB is that they certainly stray from the boring and ordinary and instead, bring some of the quirkiest labels out there, some of which are starting to make a buzz across the fashion capitals of the world!

Here are my 3 favourites – featuing the three important food groups - shoes, clothes and accessories – which grabbed my attention at the preview and are now firmly on my fashion radar and MUST-have list for the next summer!

Mojito shoes anyone? Yes please!!!! Julian Hakes designs displayed at BOB showroom
in Singapore.

An array of beautiful printed scarves...

Shoes come first! Just as entered the door, I could not take my eyes off some foot candy from this year’s hottest shoe designer Julian Hakes. Let me introduce to you the Mojito shoes – which look out of this world – and have managed to get this architect-turned- designer  the Drapers award for "Best footwear designer of the year 2012". Yup we’re talking the next Nicholas Kirkwood here!!!

The Mojitos are absolutely stunning! Very unusual, and look so delicious with bright hues and contrasting leather inside which come in eight different colours. The design is futuristic with minimal fuss, focusing on the innovative architecture of the shoe itself. While there is no support for the whole foot, these shoes are apparently comfortable as they support the 2 main parts we use when walking: the ball and the heel. I can’t wait to get my hands on (or feet in this case) one and might be something on my list for London trip ;-)

The good news for people in Singapore, is that they can get these shoes very soon. You just have to contact Glamour Inc and see if they’ve got any stockists for next season!
Other than shoes, there were of course a lot of prints! What do you expect from a city which built its fashion reputation on innovative prints ala Alexander McQueen, Mary Katrantzou and many more??

I loved the Antoni & Alison collection which had some amazing and comfy-looking dresses, skirts and scarves, all so bright and with some prints resembling a child’s marker pen scribble. All the pieces are also in lightweight silk – very suitable for the hot weather in this part of the world!

While there can be too many similar prints out there, what distinguishes Antoni & Alison’s is their play on 2D-3D dimensions and some unexpected elements like hand-drawn scribbles done over a neatly-drawn one. Also they have done some amazing maxi length silk dresses which so chic and comfortable and can pass appropriately for evening functions for an understated look.

Also no surprise that one of my favourite boutiques in Singapore - Society of Black Sheep at MBS - stocks some of their designs!

Love this season's collection from Antoni & Alison!

My fav dress! such as unusual print and so much fun!

Accessories-wise, I fell in love with Michelle Lowe-Holder’s up-cycled bracelets which are made from leftover material be it leather or cork. It just looked really well-made and it goes to show that there are some amazing eco-friendly fashion out there that looks sophisticated and chic.

The designer definitely knows what she’s doing here and the process of turning rubbish into these exquisite pieces is not as simple as it may seem as she uses a zero-waste process in producing them. The thought and technique definitely sets this label apart from the rest!

My favourite pieces of the lot has to be the black bangle with some metal pieces which is so edgy and rock-chic.

Glamour Inc Showroom in on 59 Eng Hoon Street, Tiong Bahru. You can keep updated on the latest events and previews on their facebook page.

These upcycled accessories are to die for!

BOB also stocks Vivien Sheriff hats...
