Bonjour Xmas: Seven stylish gift ideas for the woman in your life

With less than a week to Christmas Day, time is definitely too short to go out and aimlessly look for gifts for the special woman in your life.

So if you’ve left your Christmas shopping to the last minute (as most people do), fret not as I’m on hand to help whether your budget is S$15 or S$500.

The great thing about my guide is that each gift is something I would own and thus comes with the Bonjour Singapore seal of style approval. More importantly, every single present idea in this list helps to support and grow the Singapore and Asian fashion ecosystem.

And for those of you who are feeling lazy (and who are quick on the draw) you can also order most of these gifts online. So you can be super-stylish and awesome from the comfort of your desk or lying in bed at midnight.

Singapore label Foreword's necklace makes a great Christmas gift
for any fashionista!

1- Sustainable Jewellery from Roccoco Kent

I’ve written about this little hidden vintage boutique before and one of the reason I love it is that you can never expect what to find in there. If you’re budget is tight this season but you still want something cool and unique, the Sustainable Jewellery (which are made from recycled material in Peru) are ideal and on sale at Roccoco Kent! The feather earrings will cost you a mere S$15.90 while the delicate bracelets S$21.90. A thoughtful, eco-friendly, affordable and most of all stylish gift I’d say. What else can you ask for?
Available at Rococco Kent (753 North Bridge Road #02-02) and on their online shop

2-The Carrie K. bookbox

If you’re looking for something a little more quirky and different than the usual, that’s one gift idea you’ll b thanking me for! One of my favourite jewellery designers in Singapore Carrie K. has produced a limited edition bookbox which can be used to store jewellery or as a clutch and who knows you can find other uses for it. This is perfect for anyone who already has a lot of jewellery and accessories and always looking for something extra special.  I love love love this one and will definitely be hoping to get one under my Christmas tree this year!
Carrie K. bookbox (S$75) is available at Carrie K. at Tangs.

3-Foreword accessories

Now if you’re looking for something to go inside that box, look no further than the awesome Singapore label Foreword’s accessories which have been ever so popular since their launch last year. These are hand-woven bracelets and necklaces which come in different colours and sizes and would appeal to any fashionista who loves her statement jewellery. Foreword bracelets (S$59) and necklaces (S$89-139) are available at their flagship store in Parco next NEXT (9 Raffles Boulevard, Millenia Walk), Re-Style at Isetan Scotts and on their online shop

4-Veira clutch or handbag

Singapore handbag label Veira has been making beautiful and original bags for a couple of years now and if your missus appreciates quality and originality (and is no slave to monogrammed canvas totes) the she’ll definitely appreciate this gift. For this season Veira has reproduced her most popular envelope clutch in sassy pink colour (S$99), and added an envelope satchel design (S$299) which is roomier thus perfect for everyday and in versatile colours like black and brown. I love the vintage-y feel of these satchels and I’ve seen them up-close so can say that the quality of leather and stitching is on par with any esteemed designer bag.
Veira bags are available at their flagship store in Parco next NEXT , W.E. Workshop Elements (Wisma Atria #03-16), SKYroom ( 84 Haji Lane) and online at Asia Fashion Inc.

5-Emblem ballet flats

When it comes to shoes, I find it really hard to find ones that are stylish and comfortable at the same time. So yup, top on my list for Santa this year is a pair which won’t hurt my feet but still look as good as heels. If you know someone who loves her shoes as much as I do (or maybe a little less as mine is more of an obsession!) then take my word for it and surprise her with these python Elle ballet flats from Singapore label Emblem. The flats are so cute, cut perfectly and come in different shades and colour combinations. Most importantly they are so comfy too as the designer has worked on cushioning them properly so you can walk for one end of Singapore to another without it pinching your feet.
Emblem Ella flats (S$149) are available online at Emblem Boutique and Asia Fashion Inc.

6- Dina Khalife printed silk scarves

Who said wearing scarves is just for old ladies? In fact, there is nothing more chic and stylish than adding a French-y twist to any outfit by wrapping a colourful silk scarf around your neck. My ex-university colleague, friend and fellow Lebanese designer Dina Khalife (I posted about herhere before) makes some of the most beautiful silk scarves I’ve seen and for a fraction of the price of an Hermes one yet with the same quality. Dina makes the cute illustrations which are fun yet chic and bursting with vivid colours. Each scarf tells a story and will certainly makes a great gift for any woman who appreciates art and originality.
Dina Khalife silk scarves (US220-240) are available at her online shop and Middle Eastern e-tailer Dia Boutique.

7-TOTON collar

If you’re looking to splurge a little on someone special this Christmas, forget diamonds, designer labels and look for something a bit more fashion forward and unique. I’m talking about these gorgeous collars from Indonesian designer TOTON (S$491) which will win any stylish woman’s heart. They are available in limited quantity at Gnossem and come in two different designs. I do have one already but seriously I wouldn't mind a second one as well ;-)

Who wouldn't want this stunning TOTON collar under their tree??
